Coordinator of Assessment

The Coordinator of Assessment assists with college efforts to improve student learning and educational program outcomes and work directly with faculty and staff to develop and implement assessment strategies that lead to course, curricular and program improvement. The Coordinator will assist in developing and shaping assessment processes and keep current of assessment best practices nationally. The coordinator will foster a collaborative culture emphasizing continuous improvement of the quality of education at Mitchell College.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists faculty and staff with development of assessment strategies, including effective use of assessment technology.
  • Monitors existing assessment plans and analyzes data from specific assessments.
  • Assists in the development of an institutional assessment plan.
  • Develops summary presentations of assessment results for faculty and staff meetings on surveys, such as the NSSE, BCSSE and FSSE.
  • Engages administration in the review and utilization of assessment results.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty to map major and programmatic outcomes within Mitchell's ability based educational framework.
  • Supports the development and use of technological systems related to assessment and accountability documentation.
  • Assists with both quantitative and qualitative data collection related to multiple levels of assessment.
  • Facilitates and conducts student focus groups related to the assessment process.
  • Collaborates with faculty in building and sustaining a "culture of evidence."
  • Assists faculty with the development of rubrics and strategies to measure student learning outcomes.
  • Designs and administers college-wide surveys related to assessment.
  • Partners with other campus resources to assists students with uploading and managing documents on e-portfolios.

Education and/or experience

  • Master's degree in related field, such as curriculum, assessment, educational leadership, higher education administration or other appropriate academic field required, Ph.D. preferred.
  • At least three years of experience with program evaluation, outcomes assessment or related work.
