Reserving Campus Facilities

Please contact us to inquire into reserving Mitchell College facilities. All reservations require a certificate of liability insurance naming Mitchell College as certificate holder.

Primary Spaces

The Clarke Center at Mitchell College is an ideal space for symposiums, lectures, workshops and other large group events. Located within the Center is the Clarke Auditorium, the Robert C. Weller Conference Center, the main Dining Hall, a casual cafe, and a private dining space. The Clarke Center is air-conditioned with elevator access to the second floor.

The Yarnall Athletic Center houses the College's Alumni Gym, the College's Fitness Center, and multiple classrooms. Bordering the building are the College's prime athletic fields, outdoor tennis courts, and parking. The Yarnall Athletic Center has elevator access to the second floor.

Workshop Settings

Mitchell College's classrooms comfortably accommodate 15 - 30 guests. Size of room, furniture and arrangement of the classrooms does vary; however, standard equipment includes an LCD projector, DVD and VHS players, document camera, projector screen, computer as well as seating.

Three computer laboratories hold 15 - 24 guests. Ideal for corporate training and multimedia presentations, the labs offer access to MS Office XP and the internet. Requests can be submitted to arrange labs for special software.

Intimate Spaces

The first floor of the picturesque Umbrella House provides a comfortable living room area for a standing reception of 40-50 guests, and a dining room that can seat eight guests. A full kitchen provides space for catering needs. The house opens up to a landscaped garden and a lawn that easily accommodates a 20' x 20' tent.

Located in the historic Mitchell Hall, the Fox Room is ideal for seated meetings of ten to 20 guests, or receptions for up to 60. With its beautiful moldings and impressive fireplace mantle, the Fox Room accommodates small receptions, lectures, presentations and more.

Other Facilities and Amenities

Mitchell College offers on-site catering services through Sodexho Affiliates.

Our private beach offers views of the Thames River all the way to Long Island Sound and Fishers Island, New York. The beach has been the setting for personal enrichment workshops such as Painting on the Beach, Sunset Yoga and Coastal Kayaking, a living laboratory for science students, and a refreshing afternoon spot for the Children's Learning Center's Explorer Summer Camp campers. It is ideal for spring through fall events, including dynamic professional development training programs. With a grassy lawn leading to sand dunes and the beach itself, there is ample space for tents, grilling, games and celebrations.

Mitchell College Woods offers natural and groomed trails, fresh water pond, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a pavilion for picnics, and a spacious lawn.

Mitchell Green, between the Clarke Center and Mitchell Hall, overlooking the Thames River, has been the site for graduations, antique car shows, fund-raisers, reunions and more. The Green can easily accommodate a 120' x 60' tent.

The College Library has been host to art shows, gallery talks, lecture series, and meetings of up to 24 participants in its newly renovated main floor.

Eight Residence Halls can house 15-120 guests. Three traditional residence halls and one suite-style residence hall are located near the Yarnall Athletic Center, and four residence houses are located along the Thames River water front.
