The Campaign for Mitchell College

Imagine the impact of $10M of private sector investment on the education of our outstanding students. Mitchell College is raising the funds for three strategic areas:

1. Capital Improvements
   During the next five years, watch for the opening of a new residence hall, renovation of the science laboratories, the fitness center, and new signage for the campus. The Duquès Academic Success Center is completed, as are the successful renovations of the Weller Center and the Clarke Center.
2. Endowed Scholarship
   Funding is being sought to establish scholarship endowments to meet the needs of our diligent and hardworking students. As an illustration of this critical necessity, financial aid for students from New London County, alone, increased from $2.4 million in 2006-07 to $3.9 million during the last academic year. This increase has resulted from dramatic growth in enrollment along with the challenging economy of our times.
3. Strategic New Programs
   A new Tourism & Hospitality program offers students training in one of the biggest industries in southeast Connecticut. Homeland Security, Graphic Design & Marketing, Early Childhood Education, Environmental Studies, and Business Administration address the needs of our changing economy and corporate landscape.Two additional programs, Global Studies and Health, Recreation and Physical Education, are being planned for the near future.

The Board of Trustees has adopted these major initiative and through this campaign, we are witnessing the successful implementation of each.

As of October 2008, the Campaign has secured over our Phase I goal of $5 million. We've already accomplished a lot. Intensive efforts are currently underway to encourage increased alumni partnership and investment to achieve our goals.
